John Hoon and Joon Suk’s paper came out on Mar 14, 2014. In this study, we determined minor allele frequency thresholds for variants linked to hearing loss and suggested a method to systematically evaluate them. Congratulations!

Jung Min, a MD specialized on internal medicine, joined the lab as 기초연수의 on March 2, 2019. Jung Min will investigate the link between inflammatory bowel diseases and kidney function. Welcome aboard!

Yo Jun’s paper was published in the American Journal of Human Genetics on Jan 3, 2019. In this study, we reported that mutations of ADAMTS9, a metalloproteinase of ADAMTS family, cause nephronophthisis-related ciliopathy. We also found that ADAMTS9 localizes near base of primary cilium via endocytosis. Congratulations!

A new paper about KCNQ4 mutation was published on Dec 17, 2018. In this study, we reported a recurrent pathogenic mutation of KCNQ4, c.140T>C;p.L47P. This mutation is interesting in that the mutant protein responds to KCNQ4 activators. Young Ik  is the cofirst author of the paper. Congratulations!

A new paper about hearing loss and KCNQ4 mutations was published on Nov 11, 2018. In this study, we reported two pathogenic mutations of KCNQ4 which causes late-onset hearing loss. Young Ik  is the cofirst author of the paper. Congratulations!

A new paper about hearing loss and WFS1 mutation was published on Dec 19, 2017. In this study, we reported that WFS1 mutations cause low-frequency hearing loss.  Jun Suk  is the cofirst author of the paper. Congratulations!

A new paper about nonsyndoromic hearing loss (NSHL) was published on Api 6, 2017. In this study, we investigated the genetics of NSHL using whoe exome sequencing. This work is the first outcome of collaboration with Drs. Jinsei Jung and Jae Young Choi in the Department of  Otolaryngology, Yonsei University College of Medicine. Jun Suk  is the cofiust author of the paper. Congratulations!

A paper about SGPL1 was published in J Clin Invest was published on Feb 6, 2017. SGPL1 encodes sphingosine-1-phosphate lyase which is involved in sphingosine metabolism. Mutations in SGPL1 causes syndromic nephrosis which includes SNRS, adrenal insufficiency, and ichthyosis.

A new paper about adrenal insufficiecy was published in Clin Genet on Jan 11, 2017.  This work is about NR0B1 and was done in collaboration with Drs. Chang-Myung Oh and Sang Wan Kim. Joon Suk is a coauthor of the paper.
